Upon arrival at San Cristóbal Island in the town of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, the capital of the Galapagos Islands, would be a person with a vehicle waiting for you to drive you to your hotel. LA LOBERÍA.- Es un sitio de visita cerca de Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, a 20 minutos de viaje en vehículo. Es un sitio de descanso de lobos marinos, iguanas endémicas de San Cristóbal, hay aves acuáticas, mangle botón y mangle blanco en la zona como vegetación nativa. El camino es plano y fácil. Llevar ropa cómoda para caminar, buenos zapatos, ropa de baño para disfrutar de la playa. Hay la probabilidad de nadar con lobos marinos.
LA LOBERÍA (SEA LION ROOKERY) - This is a visitor site near Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, a 20-minute drive away. It's a resting place for sea lions and iguanas endemic to San Cristóbal. There are aquatic birds, button mangroves, and white mangroves in the area as native vegetation. The trail is flat and easy. Wear comfortable walking clothes, good shoes, and swimwear to enjoy the beach. There's a chance to swim with sea lions.
LEÓN DORMIDO.- Es una formación geológica icónica de toba volcánica del Archipiélago. Debe su nombre a la forma que inspira al observar la parte posterior de la misma, puede ser comparable al de una esfinge. Además es un sitio de anidación para la fragata mayor, piqueros de Nazca y otras aves marinas. Navegaremos alrededor para apreciar su forma y luego se ofrecerán 2 sesiones de buceo superficial de 30 minutos a una hora de duración con intervalo. Finalmente, desembarcaremos en una playa cercana para caminar y/o hacer buceo superficial desde la orilla.
KICKER ROCK - This is an iconic geological formation of volcanic tuff in the archipelago. It owes its name to the shape it inspires when observed from its back, which can be compared to that of a sphinx. It is also a nesting site for the great frigate bird, Nazca boobies, and other seabirds. We will navigate around it to appreciate its shape and then offer two snorkeling sessions, lasting 30 minutes to an hour, with intervals. Finally, we will disembark at a nearby beach to walk and/or snorkel from the shore.
ISLOTE LOBOS.- La Isla Lobos es un pequeño islote deshabitado en Galápagos, cerca de San Cristóbal, que se caracteriza por su abundante vida marina, especialmente por las colonias de lobos marinos que le dan nombre, pero también alberga piqueros de patas azules, fragatas, pelícanos, iguanas y otros animales. Es un sitio popular para el esnórquel y la observación de fauna, donde los visitantes pueden disfrutar de la interacción con la vida silvestre en sus hábitats naturales. Se llega por medio de una lancha rápida y desembarcamos en un muelle. El sendero es rocoso, por ende, se recomienda buenos zapatos para caminar, agua, protección solar y ropa cómoda para andar.
Lobos Islet.- is a small, uninhabited islet in the Galapagos Islands, near San Cristóbal, known for its abundant marine life, especially the colonies of sea lions that give it its name. It is also home to blue-footed boobies, frigate birds, pelicans, iguanas, and other animals. It is a popular snorkeling and wildlife-watching site, where visitors can enjoy interacting with wildlife in their natural habitats. You arrive by speedboat and disembark at a dock. The trail is rocky, so good walking shoes, water, sunscreen, and comfortable clothing are recommended.
LAGUNA EL JUNCO.- Es una laguna de agua dulce formada en el cráter de un volcán inactivo. Es única en las Galápagos por ser la única fuente permanente de agua dulce en el archipiélago. La laguna se encuentra a una altitud de 700 metros sobre el nivel del mar y es un importante sitio de observación de aves. Aquí haremos una caminata alrededor del cráter. Hay una escalera que facilita el ascenso. Una vez en la cima podremos observar las fragatas bañándose en la laguna, así como la vegetación única de la zona. También se aconseja la fotografía.
EL JUNCO LAGOON - This freshwater lagoon formed in the crater of an inactive volcano. It is unique in the Galapagos as it is the only permanent source of fresh water in the archipelago. The lagoon is located at an altitude of 700 meters above sea level and is an important birdwatching site. Here we will hike around the crater. There is a staircase that facilitates the ascent. Once at the top, we can observe frigate birds bathing in the lagoon, as well as the unique vegetation of the area. Photography is also encouraged.
CENTRO DE CRIANZA DE TORTUGAS DAVID RODRÍGUEZ O LA GALAPAGUERA.- Está ubicada en la parte alta de la isla San Cristóbal de Galápagos. Se encuentra en la parte sureste de la isla San Cristóbal. Es un sitio de visita relativamente nuevo, abierto en 2003. Ofrece la oportunidad de observar tortugas gigantes en un entorno natural protegido. El área circundante también es hogar de aves terrestres como pinzones y cucuves. El centro protege a las tortugas de depredadores introducidos como cerdos y cabras. El viaje dura aproximadamente una hora por carretera y está ubicado en Cerro Colorado, al sureste de la isla. Una parte del sendero es de baldosa, pero la mayo parte está abierta en la naturaleza. Es recomendable usar buenos zapatos para caminar, rompevientos o chompa para la lluvia.
DAVID RODRÍGUEZ TURTLE BREEDING CENTER, OR LA GALAPAGUERA. - Located in the upper reaches of San Cristóbal Island in the Galapagos Islands, it is a relatively new visitor site, opened in 2003. It offers the opportunity to observe giant tortoises in a protected natural environment. The surrounding area is also home to land birds such as finches and mockingbirds. The center protects the tortoises from introduced predators like pigs and goats. The trip takes approximately one hour by road and is located on Cerro Colorado, in the southeast of the island. Part of the trail is paved, but most of it is open to nature. It is recommended to wear good hiking shoes, a windbreaker, or a rain jacket.
